Monsoon certainly isn’t the right time for cakey makeup and dark colours. What you really need is a makeup routine that is easy to reapply (humidity isn’t makeup’s best friend), doesn’t clog your pores (we have enough stickiness going around already) and keeps you looking dewy fresh all day long.

Give the old foundation a skip and make do with a water-based sunscreen as a base if you have clear skin. If you must cover up blemishes and even out your skin tone, pick a foundation that is light and oil-free or just dab on some concealer over problem spots. According to makeup expert Liesle Sooting, “powder-based or mineral makeup works best in sweaty weather. Use a toner to freshen up your skin and tighten the pores. Nude is the look of the season but don’t keep yourself from experimenting with colour around your eyes. Use loose powders in different tones to help your makeup stay put for longer”.
Even the most flawless complexions can fall prey to pimples and blemishes if not appropriately pampered. Cleanse your face with a soap-free face wash at least twice a day, especially before turning in at night. Stock up on some facial wipes for those moments on the go.
” Don’t let that greasy T-zone fool you into thinking that your skin does not need moisturizer – keep a water-based one handy and slather some on every time you clean your face,” says Liesle.
